Many landscapes are just perceived as “filling empty areas between buildings, housing developments, highways and urban centres, or being vague sectors capable of managing themselves”. In other words, they are often described as vacant areas with little value, just waiting to be developed, to be rendered useful with some identifiable (mostly economic or functional) functions…

CANADIAN LANDSCAPE PORTFOLIO INITIATIVE

A LITTLE MORE THAN ONE WEEK TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2015 PORTFOLIO EDITION...

Spring may seem far but we know it is almost there

The end of March is almost there but it gives you far enough time to select some significant images from your personal collections or to snap new ones - with the Portfolio's objectives in mind.

Remember, this initiative ultimate goal is a build a number of collections which could identify some landscapes seen as personally significant by CSLA's members from across our vast and diversified country. It is presented as an initiative because we know this goal can't be achieved in just one exercise - the 2015 Portfolio will continue in a different form with the 2016 Portfolio.

So we are looking at as many submissions as possible from all provinces and territories to be able to "draw" some kind of "portrait" for each component association. If the ten selected images and texts from every province or territory could express what types of landscapes and how they touch us, our main goal will have been achieved. We will then be able to build from this first edition of the Portfolio - Who knows how far we could go next?

It is the definitely the perfect time to plan spring outings and to participate in the 2015 Edition of the Canadian Landscapes Portfolio ...
